Artist Statement

Things have a way of evolving, and everything I do, I think of as an exercise. I enjoy the process of choosing and cutting fabrics.

The importance of color defines the design.

I began sewing my own clothing from bathing suits to prom dresses as a young teenager along with my sisters at a time when we also worked in a fabric store after school.

Have been a photo retoucher since the age of 14 when I started as an apprentice for my father in Manhattan. From 1977 to 2001 had my own business. Switched over to digital retouching on the computer in 1993.

In 2003, I felt driven to sew a 9/11 quilt. Started sewing then and have not stopped since.
